Little Lady

Little Lady
Broken hearted girl
Thought he’d give you the whole world
Crying your tears
Waited all these years
But its ok baby
Don’t let him drive you crazy
We all get attached
To a love that will never last
But keep your head up little lady
One day the memory will be hazy
This is just a part of life
You will become someone’s wife
He will treat you like a queen
Not all men are as bad as they seem
Daddy will make sure he is a good man
Before he ever allows him to take your hand
So don’t ever lower your standards
Because it’s the man you settle for that will leave your heart scattered

The Forsaken Son

The Forsaken Son
Sweet little boy
Innocent soul
Only wants to play with his toys
Cries quietly alone
You hurt him so severely
You turned his heart to stone
Always people around
But he is locked away
Isolates himself so the pain isn’t found
He wanted to break free
Stuck with you too long
Could never escape your cruelty
The pure little boy that should’ve been coddled
You destroyed him with your words
As you hid behind the bottle
What a cowardly way to treat him
Make him responsible
And punish him for your sins
The poor boy looks for a savior
So many years later
And you can still make him feel like a failure
Blood doesn’t make you a father
So fortunate to have his mother
But it’s no wonder he wanders
Home was never safe
A place he didn’t belong
You annihilated his faith
How could you treat him like that?
Do you even know what you’ve done?
How could you not support his craft?
So incredibly talented
One of your only gifts
If only your encouragement could be so passionate
You tear him down
Out of your own jealousy
But soon enough he will be free of this town
Exonerated from your clutch
The wounds won’t heal
And there will always be a grudge
He Is a good man
One you will never truly know
Because of the torture that you began
It is your own loss
What a sad ending for you
Maybe now you will know the cost
You never snuffed out the fire in his soul
He fights a good fight
Couldn’t be happier he isn’t under your control
His love is so pure
It is genuinely a miracle
Considering all of the hell he endured
One day you will be gone
Hopefully amends will be made
But the wounds will live on
His legacy won’t be undone
He has transcended
Being the forsaken son.

My Legacy

My Legacy
I’m doin this for you
Maybe you don’t see it now
One day you will.
For you
My beautiful daughter
Always been Daddy’s little girl.
Held you in my arms
As you slept on my chest
You don’t remember
But I’ll never forget.
You grew up so fast
In the blink of an eye
A woman stood before me
Where did the time go?
What did I miss?
I did what I could
To give you a good life
But the guilt is still there
Never felt like I was around enough.
Worked a job I hated
Sacrificed a lot
Put aside my dreams
But you were worth it.
For you
My extraordinary son
You’ve always been my protégé.
Gave you my name
The gift and the curse
Always been like your dear old dad
Following in the footsteps of your old man.
I stand back and watch you
Awe-struck by your talent
Couldn’t be more proud of you
The man that I’ve raised.
I made my mistakes
I stumbled and I fell
But I’ve loved you through it all.
Now it’s my time
To find myself
Scared as hell
Don’t want to fail
But Daddy’s gotta do it
And as the tears come
Runnin down my face
I just need to remember
I’m doin this for me
And I’m doin this for you
Daddy’s finally found his ecstasy
These words
And these chords
Next to each of you
They will be my legacy.

My Absolution

My Absolution
Ignored cries
Where were you?
Supposed to love me
Instead its only hatred you spew
Oh how you fake it
Saving face
Out in the world
The real you is erased
They speak your praises
Never understand my anger
They don’t know
How many times you’ve put my life in danger
In my naivety
I worshiped the ground you walked on
The child’s innocence
The false paragon
You did so much damage
Your fists hurt me
Your words hurt more
Felt those repeatedly
The ultimate betrayal
The disposal of my trust
It has been years
And I can only feel disgust
What I will never understand
Is how you felt entitled
To build me up and tear me down
My never ending shame for the glorification of a false idol
