The Forsaken Son
Sweet little boy
Innocent soul
Only wants to play with his toys
Cries quietly alone
You hurt him so severely
You turned his heart to stone
Always people around
But he is locked away
Isolates himself so the pain isn’t found
He wanted to break free
Stuck with you too long
Could never escape your cruelty
The pure little boy that should’ve been
coddled
You destroyed him with your words
As you hid behind the bottle
What a cowardly way to treat him
Make him responsible
And punish him for your sins
The poor boy looks for a savior
So many years later
And you can still make him feel like a
failure
Blood doesn’t make you a father
So fortunate to have his mother
But it’s no wonder he wanders
Home was never safe
A place he didn’t belong
You annihilated his faith
How could you treat him like that?
Do you even know what you’ve done?
How could you not support his craft?
So incredibly talented
One of your only gifts
If only your encouragement could be so
passionate
You tear him down
Out of your own jealousy
But soon enough he will be free of this town
Exonerated from your clutch
The wounds won’t heal
And there will always be a grudge
He Is a good man
One you will never truly know
Because of the torture that you began
It is your own loss
What a sad ending for you
Maybe now you will know the cost
You never snuffed out the fire in his soul
He fights a good fight
Couldn’t be happier he isn’t under your
control
His love is so pure
It is genuinely a miracle
Considering all of the hell he endured
One day you will be gone
Hopefully amends will be made
But the wounds will live on
His legacy won’t be undone
He has transcended
Being the forsaken son.
