The Old Stranger
Turned my head
Next to me a man stood
Dressed in ratty jeans
Wearing a hood
He walked with a limp
Had a cane
Couldn’t help but
Ask him for his name
He gave me a look
Wasn’t sure how to take it
But he humored me
And he gave it
We talked a while
He told me his story
He had seen the world
For all of its glory
He gave me a tip
Said seize the day little one
You’ll be grown before you know it
And your life will be gone
I shook his hand
Thanked him for being kind
He gave me a quiet smile
Said the pleasure was all mine
That old stranger
He started the revolution
He gave me the fire
To start my evolution
And so I left
Took my time
My eyes seemed new
Like I had always been blind
I followed his words
I heeded his advice
Wish I could thank him again
For changing my whole life
