Don't Be Afraid

Don’t Be Afraid
Don’t be afraid
Afraid of the dark
Find the light
Light your own spark

The cold echo
Of a lonely drip
Madness creeping up
Start to lose your grip

Do you suffer
Suffer for me?
Or do you suffer
Suffer in spite of me?

Why do you wait
For your own mind
To tear you apart
Time after time

Waving a white flag
Of assertive surrender
Call them hypocrites
And you’re the real offender

Maybe I missed
All the signs
Of the world
You designed

Took too long
To open my eyes
And see the truth
Behind your lies

And I watched as you
Slowly faded away
Until all that was left
Was your ghostly remains

Chilled to the bone
Your eyes were empty
It was then I realized
Your essence was deadly

Now I can see
How you suffer
But it’s only for you
And no other

Your own mutilation
Taking yourself down
Your benevolent pride
And your imposter’s crown
