As his soul dies

You see it in his body

And you see it in his eyes

Feeling so hopeless

Want to pull him back

Got a little off track

Skipped birthdays

And missed calls

In some ways it feels like

He never existed at all

A ghost of your past

A ghost of your present

A ghost of your future

A ghost of resentment

But as you watch him

Fading away

You’ll never forget

The memories made

And on that last and final day

When the black angel descends

To take him away

Let go of it all and make your amends

Let go of the anger

The fear and the pain

For after he is gone

You’ll still remain

Remember his words

Heed his advice

Hold on to his voice

Pay tribute to his life
