You close your eyes,

You pray for peace.

But in your heart,

You know you won’t sleep.

So many questions

No answers to be had.

Your soul begs for answers

You didn’t know it would be this bad.

Minute by minute,

You wait for the sweet release

Hoping that just for tonight,

Your heart will find some peace.

Waiting for your dreams to take you away,

To a place you know you can never stay.

Fairy tales and nightmares await you,

And you have no idea which will come true.

You lay in bed,

With your pillow below your head.

You curl up in your blanket,

Wishing you knew you could take it.

Sleep,

Sweet sleep.

When it will come,

Even you do not know.

Patiently you wait,

For the sandman to show.
